Instructions & tips for use

Quartz watches

Montres Quartz

A quartz watch is powered by a non-rechargeable battery that needs to be replaced approximately every two years.

To ensure longevity, avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures (below 0° or above 60°).

Automatic watches

Montres automatiques

An automatic watch is powered by the energy emitted by the natural movements of your wrist.

If you don't wear it enough, it stops: simply wind the crown up and down twenty or so turns before wearing it on your wrist.

The mechanism of these watches is complex and fragile: avoid any risk of shocks or sudden movements (violent sports), and don't forget to have it serviced every 5 years or so.

Water-resistance

Étanchéité

Intended for everyday use, a water-resistant watch is designed to withstand air, dust and water splashes.

Water-resistance levels are given in meters or ATM, where 1 ATM is equivalent to 10 meters and so on. Please note, however, that the indication in meters does not correspond to the possible depth of immersion under water.

To clarify matters, please refer to the table below, which summarizes what you can do according to your watch's water-resistance level.

Splashes Light rain,
shower
Bathing, swimming
Calm
Swimming
sport
Freediving
windsurfing

Diving, jet
skiing, diving
Not waterproof

5 ATM
10 ATM
20 ATM

The water-resistance of your watch is not definitive and needs to be preserved!

Before immersion, make sure that the crown is always pushed or screwed against the case (depending on the type of crown on your watch).

Underwater, any manipulation of the elements that guarantee your watch's water-resistance should be avoided: never pull out the crown to change the date and time, and don't press the chronograph push-buttons, to prevent water infiltration.

Despite all these precautions, water-resistance is never definitive: it can be reduced by aging and wear of the gaskets, or deformation of the crown.

To protect your watch from water penetration over the long term, we recommend an annualwater-resistance check.
