Frequently asked questions

Our creations

Where are your watches made?

All our watches are designed and assembled by watchmakers in France, at our partner workshop in Besançon. The various components of our watches come from different countries.

What is the difference between a quartz watch and an automatic watch?

The difference lies in the watch's power source and how it works:

A quartz watch operates with an electronic movement powered by a battery. When the battery runs out, the watch stops.

An automatic watch operates with a mechanical movement, consisting of a series of gears and springs. To function, the watch uses the energy you generate when you move your wrist or when you turn the watch crown (manual winding). Our automatic watches generally have a 30-hour power reserve: when fully wound, they can continue to run for 30 hours without being worn. To set the time on your automatic watch, please refer to our tutorial via this link.

Straps & personalisation

Do you offer personalized engraving?

We're working on it! However, for the moment, we cannot offer you this service. You can, however, have your watch engraved by a craftsman or watchmaker once you have it in your possession. We draw your attention to the fact that an intervention by a third party may have an impact on the warranty: in this case, the product cannot be covered.

How do I get a new strap or a replacement part?

Montignac offers a selection of interchangeable straps for your watch. Depending on the model, some references are compatible only with specific watches. We therefore recommend checking compatibility before making any changes.
however, we do not sell spare parts on our website. You can contact our customer service (contact@maisonmontignac.com), and we will redirect you to reseller shops.

How do I change the strap on my watch?

Montignac offers a selection of interchangeable straps for your watch. Depending on the model, some references are compatible only with specific watches. We therefore recommend checking compatibility before making any changes.

The replacement can be carried out at a jeweller or through one of our authorised retailers. This service is at your expense.

If you choose to carry out the replacement yourself, we recommend handling the screws with care during disassembly. They are not supplied with the strap and are not available for purchase on our website. Any damage resulting from improper handling cannot unfortunately be covered under the warranty.

My strap isn’t the right size, how can I change it?

Our watch straps measure approximately 22 cm. Unfortunately, we do not offer larger sizes.

However, straps with a deployant clasp as well as Milanese mesh straps can be adjusted by yourself. We invite you to follow our tutorial via this link.

For link bracelets, adjustments must be carried out by a professional. We recommend visiting a jeweler or one of our authorized retailers (you can find the list of our retailers here).

Water resistance & durability

How water-resistant is my watch?

Water resistance is engraved on the back of the case. 5ATM/10ATM: resistant to splashes. 20ATM (Marina Collection): designed for swimming and diving.

Can my watch withstand extreme conditions?

Our watches are designed for everyday use. Avoid thermal shocks (sauna, hot shower) which can expand the seals and create condensation.

How shock-resistant are your watches?

Our crystals (Mineral or Sapphire depending on the model) offer high protection, but a watch remains a precision instrument to be handled with care.

Payment & delivery

How can I check the availability of a model?

If a model is out of stock, you can sign up for a stock alert on the product page to be notified by email when it becomes available again.

I pre-ordered a watch. When will I receive it?

When you purchase a product on pre-order, the delivery time is a minimum of 2 weeks.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payments by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express (please check with your bank to ensure you have 3D Secure enabled), as well as via PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Stripe. Interest-free installment payments in three installments are also available for orders of €100 or more via Alma, for France only.

Can I change or cancel my order?

It is not possible to modify or cancel an order once it has been confirmed. However, you have 14 days to return products that do not suit you. For this, you can consult the return information and procedures via this link.

I’d like to pay in installments, how do I do that?

Payments via Alma are possible from €100.
On the payment page, select 'Pay in instalments with Alma'. You will then be redirected to a payment page where you will need to enter your bank details as for a standard payment. You will find a summary of your upcoming instalments there. You will then receive a summary email with your instalment schedule and a reminder email 3 days before each instalment. Alma systematically performs a 3D Secure check to confirm that you are the owner of the card being used. Your bank will then send you a confirmation SMS or a push notification in your banking app, to confirm that you are the initiator of this transaction and that it is not fraudulent.
Do you have other questions? Feel free to visit Alma's FAQ or contact them directly at support@getalma.eu

What are the shipping costs and delivery times?

Shipping is free in France for orders of €250 or more; shipping fees apply for international orders.
Delivery to mainland France: Approximately 3 to 5 business days via DPD.
Delivery outside mainland France: Please visit the DPD website for delivery times.

For more information on our shipping costs, please visit the “Shipping and Returns” page.

How do I track my order?

Once shipped, you will receive an email containing a tracking link to track your parcel in real time.
You can also track the status of your order on your personal account.

My tracking number isn't working OR the carrier says the number is invalid?

Your tracking number only becomes active once the carrier has physically collected and scanned your parcel. Until that scan has taken place, the number will appear as "invalid" in their system, even though it is correct.
In practice, tracking will be available the day after you receive your SMS. Simply wait until then and try again.

My package is marked as delivered, but I never received it. What should I do?

Don't panic! If your parcel is shown as delivered but you haven't received anything, we invite you to check with your neighbours and wait 2–3 days. After this period, if you still haven't received anything, send an email to contact@maisonmontignac.com, with your order number, so that we can open a request with our carrier as quickly as possible and find a solution to your problem.

Returns & refunds

What are the return policies?

If the watch you ordered does not meet your expectations, you have 14 days from receipt to return it. Items you wish to return must be in perfect condition and show no obvious signs of use. Watches must be returned in their original packaging, with all the elements with which they were delivered to you (pouch, shopping bag and certificate of authenticity). Otherwise, we would be unable to accept the return and the products would be sent back to you.

How do I make a return?

Would you like to return products? No problem! Send us your request at contact@maisonmontignac.com. Once your request has been carefully reviewed, we will contact you to let you know the steps to follow.

How long will it take to receive my refund?

Once your watch is in our team's hands, we will send you an email to inform you. From that point, the credit card used for the purchase will be credited with the amount of the returned watch within 15 days.

Are there any return fees?

Return costs are the customer's responsibility when the return is made at your initiative.
However, if the watch has a defect or is non-compliant upon receipt, return costs are covered by us.
If the watch is damaged due to normal wear or an incident (fall, impact, etc.), return costs remain your responsibility.
For more information, consult our dedicated general terms and conditions page.

Do your products come with a warranty?

How do I care for my watch on a daily basis?

Clean the case with a soft cloth. For automatic models, wear them regularly so that the internal oils remain fluid.

Tutorials on how to use our different types of watches.

You can find the user manual for each watch model at this link.

There is fog under the glass, is this normal?

No. This indicates infiltration. Do not open the watch and contact our after-sales service immediately to prevent oxidation of the movement.

My watch is running fast or slow, what should I do?

A mechanical watch has a natural tolerance. If the gap is abnormal, it may be magnetised (proximity to a magnet or smartphone).
For an automatic watch, we recommend restarting the mechanism. To do this, set the hands to the correct time, then turn the crown at least 30 times and wear the watch immediately after.

My watch has stopped, what should I do?

If you have a Quartz watch, please check that the battery is still working. If not, replace it.
If you have an Automatic watch, please check that the balance wheel is not detached; if so, please contact after-sales service.
Otherwise, you can restart the system by turning the crown for at least 30 turns.

I dropped my watch and it no longer works

Please check that the watch shows no visible damage (detached hands or balance wheel, broken crystal, etc.).
In the event of a fall due to handling, the warranty cannot apply and a repair quote may be offered.
However, if the fall was due to a defect in the strap or its attachment system (particularly at the case), this may be covered under warranty.
We invite you, if necessary, to have your watch assessed by a watchmaker or to contact our after-sales service directly at: contact@maisonmontignac.com.

I have a problem with my folding clasp, what should I do?

You can contact our customer service by email at contact@maisonmontignac.com, specifying the exact problem encountered and sending photos and/or videos.

Is it possible to have my watch serviced or repaired? How long does a repair take?
